Interesting comments on your piece here... I am a very adamant feminist, and I was happy to flat these lines because this attire struck me as something "Hellgirl" would wear. As someone who is personally bra-less as much as possible, I'd go shirtless if I were Anung un Rama and could get away with it too. Not to mention Hellboy does not wear a shirt, and I think the fact that women need to cover up in the same situation is sexist anyways. They're nipples on everyone!
Great colouring, rendered well but not too much for Mignola-esque inks.
I completely agree. and it was tastefully done, its not like the tits are flopping around with wild abandon or anything, they are discretely obscured. oh-well, at-least I got to fulfill my Snarky comments quota for the year.
It's not a question of stylized anatomy. It's just that the artist drew Hellgirl with the wrong body type. Hellgirl ought to have a big bruiser body type, but the artist gave her a stylized super model appearance. Together with the comically wide shoulders it gives her a completely lopsided look.
And being published doesn't mean much, just think of Rob Liefeld.
Wow you have completely proved your ignorance and stupidity with that last statement. So rather then waste what could be productive minutes of my life arguing with you. I'm going to write my grocery list instead.
Or anorexic chicks with no muscle mass posing as action heroes (by which I mean flashing T&A) appeals to the American comic book industry... which, by the by, is not the same as "every single major comic book publisher in the world."
just so you know, I'm not interested in arguing about sexualization of woman in comics. its a cartoon, young girls are not going to form their Ideal Appearance based on a comic-book character (especially when the character has red skin and horns)and its not setting female rights back because some guy draws a half naked women with exaggerated anatomy, because the market isn't large enough. if you've got a sincere problem, I suggest you write a letter to the editor of CLEO, Cosmopolitan or some other such women's magazine (as they are doing far more damage then this image) because your wasting your time here.
Interesting concept, and it might be possible one day seeing that Hellboy's girl is pregnant in the last movie and this could be their daughter. If it could happen with Spidergirl than this could happen, too.
Really nice job, i especially like the background colours, the soft greens and the tones of them! it really makes the character stand out being a nice contrasting red, all 3 artists did a great job and this turned out a lovely picture!
